LipoVarin Review

LipoVarin is a diet supplement that claims to be “So powerful it sends your metabolism into maximum overdrive.”  That is a pretty intense claim.  I mean, would I even want maximum overdrive?  I could crash or something!  In all seriousness, what we want to know is if this stuff works for weight-loss.

Does Lipovarin Work?

Checking out the ingredients for Lipovarin, I am actually quite impressed.  It contains the following:

  • Advantra Z (a source of synephrine)
  • Coleus Forskohli
  • 5-HTP
  • 7-Keto DHEA

I am especially impressed with 7-Keto, which has been clinically proven as an effective delivery system of DHEA, which can significantly helps the body rely more on stored fat for energy.  Aside from this, I like the ingredients but they are included in too low of concentration to make a big difference…especially not for the high cost.

Lipovarin Pros

  • Quality ingredients

Lipovarin Cons

  • Low concentrations
  • Overpriced

Lipovarin Conclusion

Selling for a minimum of $60, I just do not see Lipovarin pulling its weight (or helping you lose yours) for the premium price.  This is not a bad formula, but a little weak.  There are better products out there and you deserve the best.

Lipocerin Review

Lipocerin is one of the most heavily-hyped products on the market.  As with so many diet pills, it is difficult to tell exactly what would make it better than any other product.  The official site makes some very bold claims.  It has a whole section on “clinical proof” that their product works, which in reality is a small citation of two studies done on Hoodia gordonii and chromium picolinate.  If you look a little bit further, you will find that there have been no controlled clinical studies proving its effectiveness and the company Pfizer even dropped it from their development  program because of health risk and difficult making it work.

So far, I am extremely skeptical about this product.

Does Lipocerin Work?

Aside from the sketchy claims about Hoodia, Lipocerin claims that chromium picolinate is also one of its strong points.  Again, most studies done on chromium picolinate fail to demonstrate its effectiveness in either muscle growth or fat loss.  There are a few mild sources of caffeine and antioxidants in Lipocerin, but all-in-all this is one of the more useless products I have reviewed.  I would venture to say that it will do almost nothing for you.

Lipocerin Pros

  • A few effective ingredients
  • Company offers refunds

Lipocerin Cons

  • Low concentration of active ingredients
  • No real clinical proof (false claims)
  • Highly over-priced at $60 a bottle

Lipocerin Conclusion

Aside from being an over-priced and extremely questionable product, the company also tries to lure you in with a free-trial offer which enrolls you in an auto-ship program.  Red flag!  All things considered, I am very disappointed with what I see here and I do not recommend Lipocerin.

Lipitrex Review

Lipitrex, by Progressive Health, claims to help you with your quest for weight-loss in four ways: Appetite Control, Minimize Fat Storage, Boost Metabolism, Increase Energy.

The big question is whether they can back up these claims with the right ingredients in the right concentrations…and also for the right price.  Let’s take a look:

Does Lipitrex Work?

For $50 a bottle, I better see some good stuff…

  • Pinolenic Acid (240 mg) - This is a fatty acid derived from the Korean pine nut.  There is some recent research that shows it as being a fairly effective appetite suppressant.
  • Coleus Forskohlii (12 mg of forskolin) - This has been shown to be an effective ingredient that helps to build lean body mass and reduce fat storage.
  • Green Tea Extract (100 mg) - Long proven and widely used, Green Tea is a great source of antioxidants and combined with caffeine is an effective metabolic booster.
  • Citrus Aurantium (100 mg) - Also known as bitter orange, this is effective for its content of synephrine as a metabolic booster.
  • Guarana Extract (standardized for 44 mg of caffeine) - Another stimulant.
  • Conjugated linoleic acid CLA (1500 mg) - A fatty acid and antioxidant.  Recently under inspection for possible side effect related to heart disease.

Overall, these ingredients back up the claims made by lipitrex, but very weakly.  If they were given in higher concentrations, this would be a great product, but with only 44 mg of caffeine and an unclear concentration of synephrine, you are unlikely to get much of a boost in your metabolism.  CLA has little application to weight-loss and seems to be only filler here.

Lipitrex Pros

  • Quality ingredients

Lipitrex Cons

  • Low ingredient concentrations - ineffective
  • Over-priced

Lipitrex Conclusion

Lipitrex has made a good attempt at being a legitimate diet pill.  It offers some good ingredients with a fair amount of science behind them.  Subsequently, they slap on a premium price of $50 a bottle.  This is all well and good…except for the fact that the ingredient concentrations are much too low to make any significant difference.  This is a very cheap pill to produce and does not pack the punch it claims for the price it asks.  I do not recommend Lipitrex.

Glucofast Review

What does Glucofast do?

According to the MicroNutra website, “Glucofast helps support healthy blood sugar levels already within the normal range…without negative side effects.” Did I just read that wrong or does Glucofast claim to support a my already normal blood sugar levels? - Sounds unnecessary to me.

How Glucofast Works

When the level of sugar in the blood rises the liver consequently creates an excess amount of insulin which is in turn causes our body to store more fat. By controlling blood sugar levels, insulin levels are also controlled – and the levels of fat stored is affected.

Is Glucofast safe?

For your information, messing around with insulin levels is a risky thing to do. Diabetes for example is characterized by disordered metabolism and abnormally high blood sugar resulting from insufficient levels of the hormone insulin.

Glucofast Ingredients

Glucofast has a ton of ingredients – here is the list: Vitamin C & E, Biotin, Magnesium, Zinc, Chromium, Bitter Melon Fruit Extract, Guggul Extract, Gymnema Sylvestre Powder, Licorice Bark Extract, Cinnamon Bark Powder, Banaba Leaf Extract, and Alpha Lipoic Acid.

Glucofast Cost

For a single bottle of Glucofast you are going to be spending a whopping $67.00! That is FAR above the average price of the top rated diet pills.

Glucofast Pros

  • 90-day risk free trial

Glucofast Cons

  • Expensive!
  • Affects Blood Sugar Levels
  • Only a supporter

Glucofast Conclusion

Losing weight, though a challenge, should not cost you an arm and a leg, and a potential visit to the doctor. If you want to lose weight – do it in a safe and effective manner.

Everslim Review

EverSlim Review

Does EverSlim Work?

In order for any type of weight loss supplement to be effective it has to contain effective ingredients in effective amounts.  These two key aspects go hand in hand.  If you don’t have enough of the right ingredients, or too much of the wrong ingredients you are “up the creek without a paddle.”

Are EverSlim’s Clinical Studies Relevant?

When a clinical study is performed on a specific ingredient the results published are in regards to specific quantities.  If a product contains clinically studied ingredients the benefits of those ingredients are only relevant if the right quantities are use.

To many products use small amounts of clinically studied ingredients to help sell their product when in reality they wont give you the effects you want.

How much does EversSlim Cost?

You can purchase a bottle of EverSlim for a retail price of $49.95.  That is quite a bit above average if you are new to diet pill prices.

EverSlim Ingredients

The ingredients in EverSlim are Garcinia Cambogia, Gymnema Sylvestre, Soy Phospholipids, Green Tea, Caffeine Anhydrous, Calcium, Chromiu,  and Potassium.

Anumber of the ingredients in EverSlim are reputable – but where are the ingredient quantities listed – they’re not.

EverSlim Pros

Contains good ingredients (see cons)

EverSlim Cons

Ingredient quantities hid in a proprietary blend
Expensive

EverSlim Conclusion

If you’re going to be spending money on anything - know what you are getting.  With EverSlim all you can really say is that you are getting at least one milligram of a clinically studied ingredient – but is that enough?

Ephedraburn Review

EphedraBurn Review

What is EphedraBurn?

As you can tell by its name – EphedraBurn is a weight loss supplement containing Ephedra. It claims to boost your metabolism and energy levels, increase your sexual desire and pleasure, and improve your lean muscle mass. Their website claims that “Ephedra improves your performance at whatever you are doing.” Wow.

Does EphedraBurn Sound too Good to be True?

Well, in all reality Ephedra for quite some time was indeed too good to be true and was outlawed.

Ephedrine itself has never been illegal in the United Sates, but in 1997 the Food and Drug Administration proposed a regulation on ephedra (the herb form which ephedrine is obtained), which limited the doses of ephedra. In 2006 dietary supplements containing ephedrine alkaloids adulterated were ruled illegal for marketing in the United States.

Not until recently were dosages of 10 milligrams or less ruled legal.

Is EphedraBurn Safe?

If you want to take a drug that was once banned by the Food and Drug Administration but now made legal (in smaller dosages) be careful. The EphedraBurn website says “Ephedra is one of the only non-prescription ingredients that you can feel working in real-time.” I am not quite sure that is a good thing…

What Does EphedraBurn Cost?

It appears that they are currently out of commission right now ad Ephedra cannot be purchased

EphedraBurn Pros

Is sold in the “legal” amount of 10 milligrams or less

EphedraBurn Cons

Contains once outlawed Ephedra
Risky
Under strict speculation of the FDA

Conclusion on EphedraBurn

As I searched further into EphedraBurn many sources tell me this product is no longer available due to the ban of ephedra. The EphedraBurn website says it is back, but won’t you let you order. Some of the kinks must not be ironed out.

Dexatrim Review

Dexatrim Review

The Evolution of Dexatrim

Dexatrim is a product that by some has been compared to the evolution theories of Charles Darwin. Initially Dexatrim was a product that contained Phenylpropanolamine which was later linked to an increase risk of hemorrhagic stroke in women.

When Dexatrim dropped Phenylpropanolamine it added Ephedrine. Unfortunately the FDA also out ruled ephedrine and Dexatrim was left with a number of very common ingredients.

What are Dexatrim’s Ingredients?

Dexatrim contains Thiamin, Riboflavin, Niacin, Vitamin B6&B12, Pantothenic Acid, Chromium and a Proprietary Blend of Green Tea Extract, Oolong Tea Extract, Asian Ginseng Root Extract, and Caffeine.

Are there Side Effects with Dexatrim?

If you are sensitive to caffeine, the 50 milligrams of caffeine per capsule may be too much to handle and cause jitters, headache, and stomach discomfort. Otherwise it is intended for adult use only and not to be taken in amounts above the recommended dosage (2 capsules a day).

Dexatrim Pros

Very low price (as low as $15)

Available on-line and in stores

Dexatrim Cons

Watered down formula of a once powerful (yet dangerous) weight loss drug

Contains ingredients found in most common weight loss supplements

Conclusion

The evolution of Dexatrim could just as well be its downfall. Resulting is a number of products targeted to different areas but all containing common ingredients. When you keep taking away from a product (due to FDA regulations) you are left with a shell of unfulfilled hopes.

Cylaris Review

Cylaris Review

Does Cylaris Actually Work?

With claims such as “The World’s Strongest Diet Pill” you’d think you were getting a bargain for only $19.95, but then when you realize there is absolutely no scientific evidence to back their far-fetched claims – you might think again.

Is the Cylaris Scientific Research Valid?

When weight loss products advertise such claims as “scientifically proven” 9 times out of 10 they are referring to a study that was done on a specific ingredient, and NOT on their specific product. Worse, the published studies refer to specific ingredient quantities – and many of the products sold contain only a fraction of the scientifically proven ingredient.

The scientific research Cylaris performed was out of the country, off of the continent, and across the Atlantic way over in Africa. Why would a company who sells within the United States do their research in Africa? Sounds biased to me.

Where can you buy Cylaris?

The Cylaris website is CylarisWeightLoss.com but when I paid them a recent visit the website only said “CylarisWeightLoss.com is temporarily unavailable. Please Check Back Soon.” It looks like to me that the FDA finally caught up to them.

Cylaris Pros:

The price of $19.95 is one of the lowest you’ll find.

Cylaris Cons:

Temporarily unavailable

Invalidated scientific claims

Shady Marketing

Average Ingredients

Conclusion

The best advice is to stay away from anything that sounds too good to be true - whether its fantastic claims, incredible scientific research, or an infeasible price.

Cortislim Review

Cortislim Review

CortiSlim has been heavily debated in recent years. Recently, the slap of the FTC’s hand has proven detrimental for the producers of CortiSlim. In late 2004, the FTC cracked down on CortiSlim’s because of their false claims. The makers of CortiSlim promised weight loss in excess of 10-50 pounds, concentrated weight loss in the thigh/abdomen areas, and that it had been proven through 15 years of research. Red flag?

CortiSlim is based on the premise that when the body is stressed it increases its production of cortisol, which is said to cause your body to store excessive amounts of fat.  But this is only likely to happen when you have an underlying medical condition, such as Cushing ’s syndrome or problems with prescription medication. There has been no evidence that the amount of cortisol produced in an average healthy person leads to significant weight gain. Therefore, blocking the production of cortisol-the main function of CortiSlim-will not lead to significant weight loss.

Ingredients:

Since the premise is not valid, I will not go into too much detail about the ingredients. The product contains Green Tea Leaf extract and Banaba Leaf extract which helps burn body fat and control insulin levels, respectively.  It may help you lose a little weight, but not enough to make it worth your time and money.

Conclusion:

In conclusin the track record of CortiSlim speaks for itself: trouble with the feds and too many false claims. If you want to give CortiSlim a try, you can find new bottles on eBay from unsatisfied customers for $10-$15. Look below to see one of the best diet pills that I have reviewed.

Certiphene Review

Certiphene Review

Could Certiphene really live up to its promises? This product claims to burn fat, curb your appetite, and build muscle. The Certiphene website is pretty persuasive. They’ve cited “clinical studies” and have several convincing testimonials. But is all of this relevant? Let me explain why it isn’t.

The studies published on Certiphene’s website are real, but the thing is they play a sly game of semantics.  The study states that P57 (hoodia) helps reduce caloric intake and reduce body fat. There are two things you need to make sure about a product with hoodia: (1) Make sure there is an adequate amount of hoodia in each serving and (2) Is the hoodia that is used a 100% genuine African P57 hoodia. Unfortunately, neither of these is true in Certiphene’s case. Furthermore, notice that in the studies no concrete numbers were given of how much weight each participant lost: a huge red flag. Words such as “statistically significant” make it seem like you will lose a lot of weight. In reality, this helps Certiphene circumvent the truth by speaking in generalities and not using cold hard facts.

Price: $59.95

Ingredients

-          Hoodia

-          Chromium Picolinate

-          L-Ornithine

-          L-Arginine

-          Kola Nut

-          Guarana

-          Bladderwrack

-          Ginseng

I would say this is an OK list of ingredients. My main concern is with the “proprietary blend.” Often, diet pill companies use proprietary blends to hide the amount ingredients in each serving, adding cheap fillers to cut down on the cost of manufacturing. Unfortunately for us, it reduces the effectiveness of the pills. The consumer loses and the company wins.

Pros

-          A few good ingredients

-          Refunds accepted

Cons

-          Expensive

-          Only a few pounds will be lost

-          Small amounts of each ingredient

The general consensus among reviewers is that Certiphene will only help you lose at most 3-5 pounds. That fact, along with the price makes us hesitant to recommend it to anyone. If you are serious about losing weight, check out our list of top rated diet pills that we have reviewed below.
