Cacticurve Review

Cacticurve contains two main ways to reduce fat, carb blocking, and appetite suppression. The formula of this product is actually pretty good for this type of method aimed to help reduce fat. It contains NeOpuntia and Slimaluma both are distinguished ingredients that have been proven to cause appetite suppression along with carb blocking.

The third ingredient contained in Cacticurve is Hoodia Gordonii which has also been a great ingredient to help reduce appetite. This is what the makers of Cacticurve say “Cacticurve is an ingredient that will help you lose weight by suppressing appetite and blocking carbs great customer reviews are coming in every day”. I would say the main thing this diet pill is designed to do is suppress appetite, so if eating too much and too often is a problem this would be a good diet pill to look into.

Pros and Cons

  1. Proven ingredients that reduce appetite and block carbs
  2. Reasonable price
  3. Mostly positive reviews but not a large amount found

I would recommend this product to people who are always craving food. This product will not help if you are a person who eats even when full just because you are bored. It may help block some of the carbohydrates that are taken in. This diet pill does not have enough reviews to be considered as one of the best that I have looked at, but is definitely worth looking into.

The best prices for this product are found on ebay. Look below for the best diet pills I have reviewed up to date.

Dieters Cheating Caps Review

Dieter’s Cheating Caps are a kind of diet-supplement that targets weight-loss from the point of entry - the stomach and digestive system.  That is, it combines an appetite suppressant with a couple fat blockers.  I would assume they call them “cheating caps” because in theory you can still eat many of the same foods you used to, but you will just have less of a desire to eat as much and will absorb less of the fat, thereby helping you lose some pounds.

Do DCC’s Work?

Dieter’s Cheating Caps contain three main ingredients:

  • Chitosan 750 mg - known to attract and bind to fat cells and keep your digestive tract from absorbing them.
  • Bean Extract (phaseolus vulgaris) - 750 mg - proven to inhibit your body from breaking carbs down into sugars and increasing fat storage.
  • Glucomannan - 750 mg - a powerful thickener that absorbs water and makes you feel full much faster.

These ingredients are all pretty solid.  Chitosan still lacks some evidence to show its real effect in blocking fat absorption but glucomannan and the phaseolus extract have plenty of research behind them.  I would expect decent results given the dosage.

DCC Pros

  • Good price - $24 per bottle
  • Solid formula

DCC Cons

  • Chitosan not completely bulletproof

Dieter’s Cheating Caps Conclusion

Overall this is a pretty decent product.  I like the simple formula with high doses and I think you can expect some pretty good appetite suppression as well as lower absorption of dietary fat.

Ephedrasil Review

Ephedrasil Review

This product is getting a lot of attention. Ephedrasil is legal and does not contain Ephedra. I believe it is called Ephedrasil because it is suppose to produce similar effects that Ephedra does. These are a few of Ephedrasil’s  fat burning ingredients

*Synephrineis derived from the Citrus Aurantium fruit, and is used for a variety of purposes in Traditional Chinese Medicine including fat loss and appetite suppression. Users of this ingredient also report high energy levels (non jittery energy).

*Chocamine provides the stimulation and health benefits of chocolate without any of the unnecessary, potentially unhealthy ingredients (such as sugar and fat). Proven research has made many positive claims about Chocamine, including increased energy, appetite suppression, increased lipolysis (fat burning), improved mood, improved concentration, increased alertness, improved physical performance, aphrodisiac properties, and other health benefits.

*VinocetineVinpocetine is a derivative of the natural alkaloid vincamine, which is extracted from the periwinkle plant. Has been known to aid in weight loss and increase energy. This ingredient also improves utilization of oxygen  and improves critical brain functions such as memory recall, focus and mood.

Conclusion

Ephedrasil contains great weight loss ingredients  in very high dosages. This is a highly potent fat burner. Ephedrasil is also very affordable (go to Ebay for the best deal). This is still a newer weight loss formula so I cannot say if its one of the best, but I  do approve of Ephedrasil’s fat burning ingredients.

Ghreleptin Review

Ghreleptin Review

Probably one of the more unique and funny-sounding products I have reviewed, Ghreleptin is a diet-supplement that claims to reduce appetite by inhibiting the hormone ghrelin and also increasing energy expenditure by activating the hormone leptin.  Its approach is mainly herbal and sells for about $30 per bottle.

Does Ghreleptin Work?

This product contains two complex proprietary blends (which I am not typically a fan of) which perform each function with ghrelin and leptin.

Ghrelin Inhibiting Complex (710 mg) - contains extracts from spinach, broccoli, garlic, celery, carrot, wheat grass, asparagus, tomato, shiitake mushroom, and mustard seed.  Almost makes me hungry! Contrary to how it may seem, these extracts have been proven to help inhibit ghrelin and reduce your appetite. Needless to say they are very healthy for you as well.

Leptin Activating Complex - contains guarana, acai, bitter orange, noni, mangosteen, wolfberry, pomegranate, bitter melon, raspberry keytones, grapeseed.  These ingredients are rich in antioxidants as well as metabolism-boosting chemicals such as synephrine and caffeine.

In general I am impressed by the natural and effective sources this product has gone to for its effect.  These ingredients are almost all solid and I would like to see more of them in more diet pills.  You are likely to see at least some results with Ghreleptin.

Ghreleptin Pros

  • Natural and safe ingredients
  • Dual action (appetite suppressant/metabolic booster)
  • Reasonable price

Ghreleptin Cons

  • Unclear concentrations

Ghreleptin Conclusion

Often I do not recommend products with proprietary blends, and I have my reservations with Ghreleptin, but in any case I have found a good number of positive customer reviews and there aren’t any “filler” ingredients here that would make me suspect you are getting ripped off.  I have no problem recommending Ghreleptin.

Glucopsyll Review

Glucopysll Review

Glucopsyll, proudly claims to be the “safest diet pill on earth” and is essentially a complex fiber formula meant to aid with appetite suppression and blood-sugar regulation. It’s always good to be safe, but with so many products out there and for the serious dieter, we are often more concerned about results.

Does Glucopsyll Work?

  • Glucopsyll is a blend of four different varieties of fiber, which work in different ways to help suppress appetite and regulate blood sugar.
  • Psyllium Husk - a concentrated fiber source which aids in regular bowel function. It also may help to lower cholesterol.
  • Glucomannan - A remarkably absorbant form of fiber which absorbs up to 200 times its weight in water and helps you to feel “full.”
  • Fibersol-2 - A similar effect to glucomannan. It combines to increase the feeling of satiety and helps it kick in sooner.
  • Guar Gum - A common form of dietary fiber used in many foods that can help the food you eat fill you up faster.

Each of these ingredients is a solid and helpful form of fiber. Combined they provide a powerful suppressant for your appetite and can help to improve your cholesterol and general health. This approach to weight loss is safe and fairly potent from what I have seen.

Glucopsyll Pros

  • Safe
  • Solid ingredients as appetite suppressants
  • Inexpensive

Glucopsyll Cons

  • Not a metabolic booster

Glucopsyll Conclusion

For as little as $12 on eBay, I say why not try this product? It is one of the best fiber supplements I have seen that may seriously help reduce your appetite. My only issue with it is that it provides no help with burning fat, but it may really help you get into the habit of consuming less, which is the main issue for many people.

Hooderma Review

Hooderma Review

Hooderma is a weight loss product that claims a transdermal (through the skin) delivery system and professes to be an appetite suppressant as well as a wrinkle reducer.

Does Hooderma Work?

Based on Hooderma’s ingredients, I can tell you that this is a pretty solid formula both for skin care and weight loss. It contains Green Tea, 7-Keto DHEA, Hyaluronic acid, Aloe Vera, MSM, and Hoodia gordonii. Though I am not typically a fan of hoodia as it lacks more research to be really reliable, Green Tea and 7-Keto DHEA are effective and reliable aids in weight-loss.

Hyaluronic acid, aloe vera, and MSM are guaranteed to help reduce the appearance of wrinkles and help improve the overall health and look of your skin. This is a big plus, so wheres the catch? Well, despite the great ingredients, I really can’t say for sure whether the skin delivery system is effective because there is simply not enough research on it. From what I have seen, there have been some positive results.

Hooderma Pros

  • Great Ingredients
  • Reasonable price - $35

Hooderma Cons

  • Not enough evidence behind transdermal delivery of ingredients

Hooderma Conclusion

Overall this is a good formula and a reasonable price for the ingredients. This will for sure improve your skin, but I am expecting more marginal results as far as weight loss goes. Not a bad product.

Hoodia-850 Review

Hoodia-850 Review

Hoodia-850 appears to present itself as the king of all Hoodia products, offering 850 mg of pure hoodia gordonii straight from South Africa.  It cites a 60 Minutes highlight done on Hoodia in 2004 and quotes the program with the seductive “imagine not being hungry all day without feeling side effects typical of diet pills”.  The big question is…

Does Hoodia Gordonii Work?

According to a lead researcher at Pfizer, which dropped its Hoodia development program because of health concerns, reported to the New York Times in 2005 that Hoodia is far from being approved by the FDA and that “dieters should be wary” of using Hoodia products.  Furthermore, there is no clinical or controlled research to conclude that Hoodia gordonii does what it is claimed to do and no reliable way of  knowing.

Hoodia-850 contains absolutely no other ingredients, which means you are taking a 100% risk on the effectiveness of Hoodia alone.

Cost

This is easily the most expensive Hoodia product I have seen, priced at a staggering $60 per bottle.  This is a huge risk, especially since they only offer full refunds if you purchase over $100 worth of their products.  The terms and conditions are very unclear and it appears that you really only receive an exchange in this case, so you could be simply exchanging one bad product for another.

Hoodia-850 Pros

  • No filler ingredients

Hoodia-850 Cons

  • Extremely Overpriced
  • No evidence behind Hoodia
  • Difficult to return

Hoodia-850 Conclusion

Hoodia-850 may be 100% pure Hoodia, but at a closer look it seems to be a 100% high risk for losing your money on a product that may or may not make any difference in your appetite.  To charge $60 a bottle, I expect some serious research behind the ingredients and there simply is no controlled studies on Hoodia.  I do not recommend Hoodia-850.

Hoodia GP57

Tuesday, April 29th, 2008

hoodiagp57.jpg

Hoodia GP57

Hoodia GP57 is a Hoodia Gordonii (big surprise) supplement that contains 1200 mg of hoodia per serving and claims to be on of the few hoodia products to include a significant amount of P-57, which is the component in hoodia which actually suppresses your appetite.

Does Hoodia GP57 Work?

The truth about hoodia is that despite the hype, there is not sufficient clinical evidence on its effects to conclude that it has a significant effect on appetite suppression.  The studies that have shown significant advantage in using hoodia have isolated P-57 as the source of this effect.  Therefore, if you are a believer in hoodia, then Hoodia GP57 is the product for you.

Hoodia GP57 Pros

  • Contains 100% Hoodia in 1200 mg dose
  • Inexpensive
  • Money-back guarantee

Hoodia GP57 Cons

  • Not enough evidence behind hoodia

Hoodia GP57 Conclusion

I do not typically recommend hoodia products, but this one at least makes clear that it actually does contain the component in hoodia that has been shown to suppress appetite.  It can be bought in bulk on eBay for quite a savings.

HoodiaTherm Review

Tuesday, April 29th, 2008

hoodiatherm3bottles.jpgHoodiaTherm Review

After having researched a few dozen Hoodia products, I was asked to check out HoodiaTherm to see how it measures up.  It is one of the many products riding the wave of a much-publicized 60 Minutes special that talked about the appetite-suppressant qualities of Hoodia Gordonii.

Does HoodiaTherm Work?

On the website, it claims to burn fat, reduce calories, suppress appetite and that all of this is clinically proven.  There is some evidence to suggest that Hoodia will help with appetite but the claim that it is clinically proven is simply NOT TRUE.  There are absolutely no controlled, peer-reviewed studies that prove these effects of Hoodia.  The fact that HoodiaTherm is as bold as to make this claim is a huge red flag.

HoodiaTherm Side Effects

HoodiaTherm also claims to have absolutely no side effects, which is not quite as far-fetched.  Given that there is little other than Hoodia in this product, there is unlikely to be side effects, but it is important to note that top researchers at Pfizer have expressed concern as to Hoodia extract’s long-term effect on the liver.

HoodiaTherm Cost

This is one of the more expensive Hoodia products I have seen and the company basically forces you to buy it in bulk, supposedly to save you money.  When it comes down to it, you are going to pay at least $100 for a 3-month supply of the stuff.  The terms and conditions are a little shady and claim that your absolute satisfaction is “guaranteed” (they put it in quotations on the site).

Pros

  • If you value “pure” Hoodia, this might be a pro

Cons

  • Sketchy return policy
  • False claims, no clinical evidence behind Hoodia

HoodiaTherm Conclusion

This product shows all the signs of a scam and I am not convinced either by the information on Hoodia, nor by their quote from Ms. National Fitness USA on the website.  I do not recommend HoodiaTherm

HoodiThin Review

Tuesday, April 29th, 2008

hoodithin.gif

HoodiThin Review

HoodiThin, a liquid Hoodia extract supplement, claims to be the most effectively absorbed and potent form of Hoodia.  HoodiThin claims to dramatically reduce appetite and help you lose weight.

Does HoodiThin Work?

HoodiThin takes a slightly unique approach to Hoodia gordonii, delivering it in a concentrated liquid extract.  It claims that Hoodia “fools the brain into thinking you are full, and even stops you from thinking about food.”  For those of you familiar with the placebo effect (where something that has no chemical effects is perceived to be effective), this could very well be the case with hoodia.  Why?  Because there has yet to be any clinical studies proving the effectiveness of Hoodia at significantly reducing appetite or accomplishing its other claims

HoodiThin Cost

Selling for a minimum of $60, this is one of the most expensive Hoodia products and by all means an expensive diet supplement period.  They also charge a ridiculous $10 for shipping which is never refundable.  Given that Hoodia has no clinical evidence behind its claims, this is quite the risk just to try it.

HoodThin Pros

  • Liquid delivery usually more effective
  • Offers money-back guarantee (30-days only)

HoodiThin Cons

  • Little evidence behind Hoodia
  • Over-priced/poor value

HoodiThin Conclusion

This company offers the same hyped-up information about Hoodia as every other product I’ve seen and makes misleading claims about its “proven” effectiveness.  It also seeks too high a price and just in case you return the stuff, they get you with the $10 non-refundable shipping costs.  I do not recommend HoodiThin.
