Sea Thin is a diet supplement claiming to harness the power of brown seaweed. If you have been to the beach, you might have noticed this stuff floating around and strewn across the beach.
Is seaweed an actual weight-loss aid?
Yes, in fact studies have shown that an extract of brown seaweed, known as fucoxanthin, can be an effective fat-burner and cholesterol reducer. So far, it has been difficult to extract the stuff from the seaweed, but in concentrated extracts fucoxanthin can be very effective. Just eating seaweed alone would do pretty much nothing for you unless you ate massive quantities every day…which I’m pretty sure wouldn’t help you either.
So this brings me to Sea Thin. Does it use a concentrated extract or just plain brown seaweed? There is really no way to know. The company claims the positive effects of brown seaweed but doesn’t explain whether they are actually using the extract or its concentration of fucoxanthin. There is simply no way to tell if this product will be effective or if you are just taking small doses of seaweed.
